AWS Community Day Egypt
§ Code of conduct

Be excellent to each other.

This code applies to every attendee, speaker, sponsor, volunteer and organizer, on site and in every online space run by the event.

Our pledge

AWS Community Day Egypt is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.

Expected behaviour

  • Be kind, be curious, and assume good intent.
  • Respect differing viewpoints and experiences. Disagree with ideas, not people.
  • Give others room to speak. Session Q&A is for questions, not for your own talk.
  • Respect the venue, its staff and its rules. We are guests at the The Grand Egyptian Museum.
  • If someone asks you to stop, stop.

Unacceptable behaviour

  • Offensive comments, slurs or jokes related to any of the characteristics above.
  • Sexual language or imagery in talks, slides, booths or online spaces.
  • Intimidation, stalking, following, or unwanted photography and recording.
  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events.
  • Unwelcome physical contact or sexual attention.
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above.

Sponsors and speakers

Sponsors and speakers are held to the same standard. Booth staff should not use sexualised clothing, imagery or activities. Talks that are mostly a product pitch may be stopped by the room host.

Reporting

If you experience or witness a violation, tell any organizer or volunteer. They are identifiable by their crew shirts and badges. You can also email [email protected]. Reports are handled confidentially. We will help you contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide an escort, or otherwise help you feel safe for the rest of the event.

Consequences

Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. Organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expelling them from the event with no refund, and informing the AWS community programs team.
